ive been trying to figure out what prop to use for my custom mini pontoon boat ive been building its about 8ft long but my biggest issue has been getting a prop these boat ones are like 500$ and i dont even know if how it would run with that prop so the 3d printed it a great idea i wish i knew as much as u about this stuff

That 12mm hex on the DeeRC is a standard design, they just use monkey metal. Even on hobby grade cars the hexes are often plastic.

For the long propeller 19:05 what you stumbled upon is a prandtl foil. You are correct about the vortices. They start before the end of the blade. Al Bowers at NASA has done a lot of research about this type of foil.

Here's a thought.. Take the best prop and add golf ball dimples. Maybe not to the blades themselves but to the cone base. This will decrease drag and spin drag
